New Wave offers film-lovers age 35 and younger an accessible entry point into Northwest Film Center membership involvement. The program is designed to give young Portlanders a way to experience all the amazing year-round Film Center exhibition programming, while connecting with peers over shared love of cinema. With no membership card to keep track of, and email and social media-based communication, New Wave is a no-nonsense alternative to traditional Film Center memberships.

Members of New Wave receive:

  • $5 tickets at regular priced year-round film screenings
  • $4-discount on Portland International Film Festival tickets
  • Ability to purchase New Wave Portland International Film Festival Pass for $150
  • MUBI streaming subscription – 60 days free

The Northwest Film Center recognizes and honors the Indigenous peoples of this region on whose ancestral lands the museum now stands. These include the Willamette Tumwater, Clackamas, Kathlemet, Molalla, Multnomah and Watlala Chinook Peoples and the Tualatin Kalapuya who today are part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and many other Native communities who made their homes along the Columbia River. We also want to recognize that Portland today is a community of many diverse Native peoples who continue to live and work here. We respectfully acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities—past, present, future—and are grateful for their ongoing and vibrant presence.
