At first, a half-live action, half-animated mid-‘90s feature film about space aliens, the Looney Tunes and Michael Jordan may sound like an odd combination, but such is the delightful charm of Space Jam. When the Looney Tunes are kidnapped by a greedy outer space amusement park mogul and his diminutive minions, they challenge their captors to a game of basketball to win their freedom. Enlisting the somewhat reluctant help of recently retired NBA legend Jordan, the resulting basketball showdown is an epic, no-holds barred, brilliantly slapstick spectacle certain to entertain parents, kids, and children of the ‘90’s alike. Also starring NBA all-stars Charles Barkley, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson, Patrick Ewing and Muggsy Bogues.

The Northwest Film Center recognizes and honors the Indigenous peoples of this region on whose ancestral lands the museum now stands. These include the Willamette Tumwater, Clackamas, Kathlemet, Molalla, Multnomah and Watlala Chinook Peoples and the Tualatin Kalapuya who today are part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and many other Native communities who made their homes along the Columbia River. We also want to recognize that Portland today is a community of many diverse Native peoples who continue to live and work here. We respectfully acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities—past, present, future—and are grateful for their ongoing and vibrant presence.
