Fresh Film Northwest is the Northwest Film Center’s annual juried survey of work by up-and-coming teen filmmakers living in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and British Columbia. Now in its 43rd year, the Festival recognizes individual talent, showcases model examples of how film arts can be taught in schools, and engages all of us in helping to build the Northwest regional youth media community of 13- to 19-year-olds.
Starting in November 2019, we’re integrating Fresh Film and the Northwest Filmmakers’ Fest into the 43rd Portland International Film Festival (PIFF43), thereby creating a more robust and sustainable platform in which to bring together regional film artists—who will be able to premiere and present their work in a broader context—with global filmmakers, sparking conversation and fostering connection both through their film work and through extensive dialogue. By integrating the two festivals, we also intend to provide a more robust launch pad for regional filmmakers’ work into the wider festival circuit and film distribution system both nationally and globally.
New deadline to submit is November 15. Notifications will be made in January 2020.
While we do not yet have a specific date set for the screening, it will happen on a Saturday sometime between March 6 and March 15, 2020.
For regional filmmakers ages 13 to 19 and living Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, or Alaska, it is FREE to submit your short films.
