After earning a Certificate in Film from the Northwest Film Center in the early 1990s, Colin “Co” O’Neill began his media career at Will Vinton Studios (now Laika) in the animation editorial department. His experience there led to an assistant sound editor and technician position at Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Sound where he worked on films such as Fight Club, Titan AE, and the Star Wars prequels. He wrote and produced two award-winning feature length films, Forge and Decrypter and has written screenplays for Rogue Pictures, the Filmmakers Alliance, and the Syfy Channel. From 2012 to 2015, Co held game building and visual effects camps for junior high and senior high school students and was featured in Wired magazine’s Geek Dad column in 2012 for his work with tweens and narrative technologies. He served as Dean of Academic Affairs for the Art Institute of Portland for many years, leading its degree program in media production, and recently served as Director of Accreditation and Assessment at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He has recently returned to Portland to instruct at Portland State University and the Film Center.
