SOLD OUT: Scratch, Paint, Animate! December

Sunday | 12noon-1:30 p.m.
Location: Classes & Admin Offices
Inspired by ANIMATING LIFE: THE ART, SCIENCE & WONDER OF LAIKA at the Portland Art Museum (opening October 14) and want to learn more? This highly participatory, all ages workshop is an informal and fun crash course on how single images turn into animated films. Roll up your sleeves, grab a marker, brush or sculpting tool, and after getting some tips from the instructors, apply color, shape and texture (and your own personal sense of adventure) directly onto long running lengths of 16mm clear or black filmstrip leader. Try different ways of creating movement across the frames (it takes 24 of them to generate one second of action). We’ll end by loading everyone’s handiwork into a 16mm projector and throwing it onto the screen. The fruits of your labor, and the magic of animation, will unfold before your eyes. A digital version will arrive via email a few days later.
No previous experience or artistic aptitude required.
Equipment and supplies are provided.
Note: All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Free to PAM and Silver Screen Club Members, $10 Non-Members
