July 15, 2019 – July 26, 2019

MON-FRI JUL 15-19 + MON-FRI JUL 22-26 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This is the ultimate destination camp for film-interested teens.  Maybe film/art school is on your mind, or you might simply want to experience the excitement (and challenges) of creating an entire dramatic film from scratch.  All levels of experience are welcome.  This is your opportunity to:

  • Learn with award-winning film professionals
  • Be part of a film crew
  • Use professional digital cameras, lights and microphones
  • Learn industry standard software
  • Get directly involved in scripting, casting, directing, working with actors, shooting, lighting, sound recording, editing, and more!

Bring several script ideas to the first day. You’ll work as a group to examine what makes a story great and to consider the challenges of producing different storylines. Class ideas will come together into different original screenplays and then let production begin.

Come prepared to work hard and learn an amazing amount! Expect at least one seriously long shooting day during the class.  If you are new to film, bring an open mind and your passions and we’ll take it from there.  If you are already making films on your own, we’ll help professionalize your skills and support your aspirations.  Tuition includes catered lunches, all equipment and links to the films.

The week will culminate with a class field trip to a professional film production company and a screening of the class films for family and friends in the Film Center’s state-of-the-art Whitsell Auditorium (inside the Portland Art Museum) at 3:30pm on Friday, July 26th.

Enrollment Limit: 14.
