Join us for ISA-Portland’s Third Thursdays, a monthly mixer for Portland screenwriters and the film and television community. Mingle with fellow screenwriters, meet film and TV industry professionals, hear from guest speakers, and win door prizes, all in a fun, casual atmosphere. The evening starts with a gathering and presentation at the NW Film Center offices (934 SW Salmon) and then migrates across the street to South Park Seafood Restaurant for informal conversation and networking.
This event is free and open to all. ISA membership is not required, but pre-registration is.

This month’s Guest Speaker is TV & Feature writer Sara B Cooper, who has worked as a writer and producer in one-hour television for over thirty years. Starting out as an acupuncturist in Los Angeles, she wrote a spec script for Star Trek: The Next Generation on a whim. The script found its way into the hands of the producers of Star Trek and they brought her in to pitch, which started her writing career. Not relegated to any particular genre, Sara has written for other sci-fi shows (X-Files, Sleepwalkers, Sanctuary and Continuum), police procedurals (Homicide: Life on the Streets, King, Ransom) as well as medical shows (Chicago Hope, House, Combat Hospital). She has consulted on many projects on both sides of the American/Canadian border and is currently developing several pilots and a few features. Sara has taught television writing at Carnegie Mellon University and is a writing coach. To balance out her writing and producing work, she teaches yoga and does horse massage.
