Brown Bag Lunch-n-Learn with Dan Sokolowski

December 5, 2018 — December 5, 2018

Wednesday | noon - 1:00 p.m.

Learn how Yukon filmmaker Dan Sokolowski integrates animation with painting and photography in a casual lunch hour conversation open to all.

Hailing from Dawson City, Yukon, Dan Sokolowski (Sok Cinema), has produced over 24 shorts, one feature, and is the producer of the Dawson City International Short Film Festival, including: Lightyear (2001), in which still images representing 12 moon cycles are painted upon and edited together in a rhythmic fashion; Land of the Pines (2006), which investigates all things pine—trees and otherwise; Stone Bruise (2007), which takes the viewer on a journey up the legendary Dempster Highway in Yukon territory in an ever-changing mosaic of landscape, form, and processes; and  Pond (2018), which tells the life of a pond over the course of one year through photographs and paint. Sponsored in part by the Canada Council. These films will be screened that night at 7pm as part of the program NorthXNorth: The Short Films of Dan Sokolowski.

For this lunch hour conversation, Dan will show clips and discuss how his practice evolved.
