July 13, 2020 – July 17, 2020

MON-FRI 1:30 pm -5:30 pm

Develop your creative eye and gain confidence as an image-maker while learning about the technology and artistry of cinematography. This hands-on class uses our compact, professional Canon XA-15/XA-20 digital camcorders, the same camera used by our adult level classes. We’ll start by learning the basics of exposure, focal length and depth of field, and then experiment with different approaches to shot composition, including foreground and background staging, and camera movements, such as tracking and hand held shots. We’ll design, set up and film practice scenes using available light and then vary the mood and quality with Lowell light kits.  The class culminates at 5pm on Friday with a free family screening, complete with popcorn. The scenes will be uploaded to a class online video album for reflection and sharing.

Tuition includes all equipment and supplies.
