Scholarships


Three scholarships support School of Film students with direct tuition support for coursework which advances their stated goals as independent mediamakers. Each scholarship has its own purpose, eligibility criteria, and set of requirements, as described below. Scholarships are processed twice each year on October 15 and April 16. Multiple applications are allowed. However, separate and complete applications must be submitted for each scholarship applied for.

 

True North Scholarship
Tuition support in the amount of $250-$500 for a beginning filmmaker who is starting the process of developing a life around film. Applicants should be able to clearly describe ideas for films they would like to make, but are not required to submit media work samples. Eligibility: Successfull completion of one School of Film class or extended workshop. Current enrollment not required. Thanks to Debra Sea.

Faerie Godmother Scholarships for Women
Tuition support in the amount of $500-$1000 for an intermediate to advanced female student who aims to occupy one or more primary creative role in the film field. Applicants must show that they are able to produce quality work while garnering the respect of peers. Eligibility: Successful completion of one or more core courses in the School of Film. Must reside in Oregon or SW Washington. Current enrollment not required. Thanks to the Faerie Godmother Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation.

David King Scholarship
Tuition support in the amount of $1,000 for an intermediate to advanced student who demonstrates a high level of commitment to their goals and who shows a special talent for the creative use of wit and wisdom in their work. Eligibility: Successful completion of two or more courses in the School of Film. Must be currently enrolled. Enrollment in Certificate Program not required, but qualified Certificate Students may receive priority. Offered in memory of endeared Film Center student David King by the King Family Foundation.
